A seven-star Turkish hotel will be opened in Arbil, the capital of the Kurdish regional administration in northern Iraq, daily Milliyet reported Sunday.
The hotel, built by Elegan Turizm for 90 million euros, will be run by Turkish hotel chain Divan, an investment of Turkey’s leading Koç Holding.
The opening ceremony of the hotel is planned to be held during a Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, or TÜSİAD, visit to the city on Oct. 14.
The ties between TÜSİAD and the region developed during regional leader Massoud Barzani’s and deputy leader Nechirvan Barzani’s separate visits to the Turkish capital of Ankara and Istanbul, Milliyet said.
A group of businesspeople, including Mustafa Koç, chairman of the High Advisory Council of TÜSİAD and Koç Holding board chairman, are to join the Arbil visit Oct. 14 by Turkish Foreign Trade Minister Zafer Çağlayan.
