Zhovkva




Zhovkva is a small town with a population of 13,500. Located 30 km to the north of Lviv.

Basilian monastery and Temple of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The church is built in 1612, the rest of buildings are built later













Dominican church of St. Josaphat and monastery was built in 1652

Zvirynets gate (XVII с.)




In this house was born the future inventor Lubomyr Romankiw. Author and co-author of 65 patents. Thanks to his invention of magnetoresistive heads for recording information, IBM managed to create a hard disk. In March 2012, he was included to the U.S. National Inventors Hall of Fame as one of ten inventors (including Steve Jobs).

DROHOBYCH





Drohobych is located 65 km south-west of Lviv.
The town was first mentioned in 1387. Drohobych received the Magdeburg rights some time in the 15th century. In the 14th–16th centuries the city was a home of significant salt industry. Yuriy Drohobych (1450 -1494) - Ukrainian philosopher, scientists, writer, medical doctor, rector of the University of Bologna, first publisher of a Ukrainian printed text.

Former Gymnasium, in 1941 NKVS prison, nowadays it's one of the scientific-researching institutes of Drohobych University.





Sts. Peter and Paul Church (1825-1828)



St. Yuriy (St. George's) Church is one of the oldest and best preserved timber churches of Ukraine, dating from ca. 1500.
