Scheduled to open in late 2009, W Dubai-The Palm represents W's second hotel in Dubai and third in the Middle East following W Dubai-Festival City and W Doha.

'Al Sharq is committed to delivering high-end, quality driven, innovative leisure developments', commented Steve Tight, CEO, Al Sharq Investment, 'and we are convinced that W Hotels will provide a unique and exciting luxury guest experience at the Palm that exceeds all expectations'.

W Dubai-The Palm is located on the Crescent section of The Palm Jumeirah and will offer 400 rooms with beach frontage and stunning views of the Palm, the Arabian Gulf and the Dubai skyline. As with W's existing hotels, W Dubai-The Palm will feature W's signature design elements, creating a destination for 'out of town' guests as well as for the sophisticated local business and social community.

"This project cements Starwood's leadership as the premier operator in the Middle East,' said Roeland Vos, President of Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Europe, Africa & Middle East. 'W Dubai-The Palm is another significant step in W's global expansion and an important step for Starwood in offering our guests ever more unique experiences.'

W Dubai-The Palm will have approximately 400 rooms, including suites and the signature W Living Room experience, multiple restaurant outlets, a destination bar and spa, and access to all of the Palm amenities including world class shopping on The Golden Mile, and luxury boat marinas. Guests will indulge in the W signature beds with feather-top mattresses, 350 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets and goose down comforters.

They will also be treated to Whatever/Whenever service, the hotel's 24-hour concierge that can provide whatever guests want (from a pair of running shoes to private jet service), whenever they want it. In a complementary move, Al Sharq will also release 200 prestige freehold residences on the Palm Jumeirah, adjacent to the W Dubai-The Palm, featuring 40 metres of pristine beach front and access to the amenities and services of the W Hotel.

The announcement of the W Hotel, in addition to Al Sharq's freehold residences on the Palm Jumeirah, follows hard on the heels of their development projects in Dubailand, Sheikh Zayed Road and Business Bay. These bring Al Sharq's total investment in its current slate of real estate developments to over US$ 2 billion.

Al Sharq Investment to develop major luxury residential project at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai

Saudi-based Al Sharq Investment has announced plans to develop a major luxury residential project – The Alef Residences – on a 46,840 square metres area of land at Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE.

The Alef Residences, which will be a project of firsts, is to be serviced by W Dubai – The Palm, a world class resort and residential complex with a spa, pool areas and other water features.

A joint venture between Al Sharq Group and Qatar’s Al Mana Global, the project strives to set new standards in the luxury lifestyle sector.

The Alef Residences have been built as a response to a distinct gap in the Dubai residential market, a need for quality on another level, leading to residences made from only the finest materials, delivering spacious and comfortable apartment living beyond the current industry expectations, said a statement from Al Sharq group.

Inspired by the wadis and bastakiya, the development is rooted in the Arabic in which it was born, representing the first development under The Alef brand set to have a global reach starting in the Middle East.

The units of Alef Residences will be handed over in the second quarter of 2017, it stated.

Al Sharq said the Alef Residences will bring together a community of like-minded individuals, hailing from diverse cultures and destinations, specially designed to deliver a new sense of belonging.

“The materials used in the construction of the development have been meticulously sourced, including the finest timber, marble, stone, and bespoke finishes. The 104 homes, all with unique floor plans, are located across eight mansions featuring their own dedicated lobbies and private elevators, shared by only two apartments on each floor for the ultimate in discrete living,” said a company spokesman.

A selection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom luxury homes offer from 4,800 to 15,000 sq ft of spacious accommodation, with stunning floor to ceiling panoramic ocean and skyline views, large balconies and gardens, some even with their own pool.

“The pinnacle is reserved for two ultra-luxurious single penthouses and three duplex penthouses. The project has been uniquely tailored to cater for a diverse range of cultures with the top two floors just shell and core so owners can take advantage of world class interior designer partners to customise their apartments to their individual sense of style,” he explained.

According to him, the contemporary and sophisticated residences are surrounded by a tropical landscaped garden and a 475-metre long white sandy beach – the largest private residential beachfront location in Dubai, according to Tradearabia news report.

“The beachfront promenade will become a haven for relaxation and recreation, with private cabanas and a range of water sports. The residences will also boast an exclusive private members’ club; the Club 104, available to residents and select VIPs to unwind, socialise and dine,” the company spokesman stated.

“In addition, residents will have VIP access to the W, its 24/7 concierge service and amenities, including six innovative dining destinations. Alternatively they can choose to relax in the comfort of their own home and take advantage of the in-residence catering service, ordering from a broad selection of W delicacies,” he added.
