I lived there from 1998 to 2000 and I can tell you it is a true amazing place!
I used to work in a 5 star hotel downtown Yangon - Kandawgyi Palace Hotel on the Royal Lake

^^ Dude I don't think that you can start a thread in this section. You should have started this thread under the "General Asian Discussion" section. Ask a mod of the Asian section like Chad, baqthier or drwho to move it there.
Thank you so much for making me be aware of the above , however My name is not "DUDE" - I'm not american.....and I would appreciate a much more polite approach in the future if You may !
Nobody will appreciate your awareness on these forums where's what and so on by being rude !

have a great day tomorrow !

^^The country is in a great mess right now, having just experienced the devastating typhoon that claimed so many lives.

There is nothing wrong with using the word "dude". Its not offensive in anyway and Americans are NOT the only ones who use it. Heck, I'm not even in America. I was just trying to be helful and friendly. Next time I won't!! When all I get is RUDE replies in return! FFS!

If you think that been associated with anything American is bad, then you need to stop thinking in an Anti - American way. I am much more aware about the world then you can think off! An ignorant guy telling me that I'm ignorant, when all I was just trying to be friendly! HMPH!

Burma (sorry the Modern name is too hard to remember) is in quiet a mess now, and I don't think many people visit there anymore.

Myanmar - One day in Tachileik

Hello everyone! :)

I want to present you my photos of Tachileik where I have spent one day. The small city is situated in eastern Myanmar at the border to Thailand and is very popular by Thai and western tourists due to its big market and Casino.

All the pictures where taken in July 2010.

From the "Southeast Asia - Skylines & Cityscapes" thread:

During the next couple of days I will bring several psots with photos of Myanmar, one of the most beautiful countries yet less travelled and less known countries in SE Asia.
I will split the photos into several posts, one post for each destination.

Today I will bring two topics:

- Modern Yangon
- Historic Yangon

Over the course of the next few days I will put together some more topics which are:

- Bagan
- Mandalay
- Mingun
- U-Bein Bridge
- Pindaya
- Lake Inle
- Kyaiktiyo (Golden Rock) and Bago

I hope thes pictures will be interesting for you.
