This thread is for the University of Liverpool's redevelopment of the School of Law and Social Justice on Chatham Street off Myrtle Street. The development will see the existing Cyprus building stripped right back to its basic structure, and fully re-fitted and re-clad externally, with an extra storey added to the top. In addition, a new build development of 6 storeys will be built immediately alongside, and integrated into the existing building by way of a shared 5 storey atrium between the two. New landscaping will complete the development.

The cladding test panel has been removed, but there has been good progress with new steelwork for the extra storey now going in, and various wall panels making it look a bit more like a proper building again -

Walls going in with brackets for the cladding now in place -

Just peaking over the hoardings, we can see the rebar for the new build section -

The new build section around the back is ticking over nicely -

Gable end cladding on the retained section -

With all those squares, the metallic finish, and that projecting section, it's like they've taken a few design cues from the Bling Bling Building -

Quite the mix of building styles on view here, with the more historic to the left, modern in the centre, and 1960s to the right -

Also... Windows loose out often when the internal functional space of the building does warrent natural light. Or to control the internal environment. Etc. Larger buildings + shopping centres are IMHO getting less attractive.
