Pity about the hipster name, but hey!

I dont know what to think of this. I am all for densification, but dude, there are small one story houses around this site. And surely they could have kept WoodWorld at the bottom.

Also, R1,3 million is very pricey!

Woodstock densification/gentrification continues.

The building looks pretty good but my big takeaway from this thread was looking up WoodWorld - one of their floating wall-mounted TV units might be just what I’ve been looking for. I must visit before they move.

I also see that WoodWorld is no stranger to moving location. According to its web site (http://www.woodworld.capetown/About Us.htm) it’s moved 4 times in its life. It’s also interesting to see that in 1976 it started off right in the centre of CBD in Hout Street. Hopefully with their long history and somewhat peripatetic nature this won’t be goodbye, just “here’s our new address”.

The name legit has every hipster buzzword - the only way it could be worse is if they called it "Bespoke Urban Artisan Lofts" :lol:

Imagine giving your address to a working-class delivery person. They'd (correctly) think you're a right doos.

Also, I like the bumblebee Mustang in the first render. is that the replacement these days in Woodstock for the Ford Cortina?

Perhaps just gold painted concrete ?!- still, I like the concrete finish on the rest of the building

I drove past the site yesterday and the Old Woodworld building, she gone! The website also states 85% sold, so it seems that this development is going ahead!

This really reminds me of Brunswick area of Melbourne.
Im really looking forward to seeing Woodstock, Salt River and Mowbray take their place among other cities the world over in the hip urban fringe / grungy stakes, and that this boosts creativity and output in all manner of ways, as well as, and most importantly, coming hand in hand with affordable mid-ride towers in the next 10 years.

The existing buildings have been demolished and site is ready for handover to a contractor

LHD Chevy Camaro, but the Cortina would better support the development name, IMHO. Maybe nobody is modeling the old Lotus Cortinas?
