IT park (SEZ) nimeta Vadodara(VUDA)(E)



An IT based Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is being constructed on 550 acres land area in Nimeta, Vadodara by Nipiam Infotech Private Limited in a joint venture with a Singapore firm.

This SEZ will include high class facilities like residential township, hospitals, schools, clubs and recreation for employees of Nipiam.

It is being considered as one of the largest projects in Vadodara, with total investment expected to reach Rs2,600 crores on its completition.

Since Vadodara is famous as a cosmopolitan city and majority of its citizens are educated, it was selected for the SEZ.

SEZ will be constructed in five phases. First phase, which is to be concluded in 18 months, comprises basic infrastructure for the IT park on 100 acres of land.

Construction of satellite residential township for employees and facilities like schools and colleges to impart education will be carried out in the second phase.

Fourth phase will include facilities like custom house, banking and ATM, warehouse and a local and international bank branch enabling foreign exchange transactions.

A textile and diamond park is to be constructed on 50 acres land area in the fifth phase, which will include an exceptional economic export promotion zone (EPZ) for diamonds and textiles.

proposed Relience University ,vadodara(W)

Reliance Industries [ Get Quote ] Limited is all set to acquire around 800 acres on the outskirts of Vadodara for its proposed university project.

It is learnt that the group has identified 800 acres of land in Jaspur, which is primarily agriculture land. "The government has agreed in-principle to allot the land to the group for its university. However, the final approval is still pending with the state Cabinet," sources close to the development told Business Standard.

Though the company officials have not arrived at the total value of the deal, sources said according to the norm, the state government offered up to 50 per cent subsidy on land meant for educational purposes.

Industry observers peg the value of the deal at around Rs 50 crore (Rs 500 million). It may be mentioned here that initially Reliance had planned to set up the university somewhere between Ahmedabad [ Images ] and Gandhinagar. However, it shelved the plan in the wake of higher land prices in these areas. It finally zeroed in on Vadodara.

The proposed university is expected to churn out 10,000 graduates every year. Apart from management and information technology, the university would offer multiple courses. "The world-class university will also have tie-ups with at least two reputed foreign universities," sources said.

The Ambanis had, in the past, set up two premier institutes in Gujarat - Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad, and Dhirubhai Ambani [ Images ] Institute of Information and Communication Technology in Gandhinagar. When the Reliance empire was split, both the institutes went to younger brother Anil.

Gujarat despite being one of the most industrialised states in the country, lags in knowledge-based sectors due to shortage of skilled manpower.

Even the state government has announced setting up of many institutes and universities to generate skilled manpower.:cheers:

I am not sure why the rendering and actual buildings have pointy and sharp pieces in red color on every other building...???

^^ Thats a neat concept. However it would be a disastrous view to be had, two buiildings starring at each other. I still like the project, though. It seems more likely to get built.
