i miss our pope. suffering was always at the core of the church's ministry. he suffered with dignity. anyway seeing those eastern rite catholic churches (with their own vestments of antiquity) paying homage to him during the funeral was a very interesting sight. i never knew about the eastern rite catholics. i thought the "roman" in 'roman catholic' was merely a distinguishing marker against such "greek" or "russian" or "armenian" orthodox churches.
anyway, what happens to all the 4 mil pilgrims in Rome now? are they waiting around for the end of conclave to welcome the new pope? i saw clips of John Paul II's election in '78, and the crowd was just electric! somewhat more dense than the crowd at the funeral.
