Vauxhall Development | Paul Street/Oriel Street | 69 Apartments/Commercial Space | 7-8 Storeys

This thread is for the development of a site located in the Pumpfields area, and bounded by Paul Street and Oriel Street, with a shorter frontage onto Vauxhall Road. The plans call for the end of the site fronting Vauxhall Road to be developed by way of a part 7/part 8 storey block, comprising 69 apartments, with commercial space on the ground floor. The block will be U-shaped, and arranged around a central courtyard. It is intended that this would be the first phase, with the redevelopment of the back part of the site to come later. The first phase would be constructed in a fashion however that the phases would appear as one once completed. The developer is Vauxhall Developments.

Intriguingly, the related documents show the future phases of this development backing all the way up to St. Bartholomew Road. However the land at that end of the site is now the subject of the Smith/Young Development application. When the planning application was originally submitted, they were requesting approval for full planning permission for the Vauxhall Road block, and outline permission for the remainder. The outline part has seemingly been dropped, suggesting the plans have changed, further evidenced by the more recent Smith/Young application for the St. Bartholomew Road end of the site. It appears like there will still be some undeveloped land between the two developments, and the current application does still state 'Phase 1', suggesting something should be forthcoming for that land is due course.
