The project is part of the redevelopment plan of the areas connected to Venezia Mestre rail station, in mainland Venice. Today, the station hosts about 85,000 daily transits, and over 31 million passengers per year, with about 500 trains a day.

The plan is aimed at the creation of a new inter-modal centre, including tourist accomodation, commercial facilities, public and private services, housing and greenery. In the middle of the site, a new bridge/platform over the tracks will connect Mestre to Marghera. As part of the plan, the proponents are thinking to build two towers with 30 floors each.

The designers of Bisà Associati are working on the proposal on the behalf of RFI, FS Sistemi Urbani and the City of Venice, which have signed a deal this week.
