Has anyone been to Vertigo 42?

I really want to go, is it a normal bar? Can you just turn up?

Is there a dress code?

Nah, its really just a chippie. Just keep it to yourself.
You need to book in advance, and bring some ID. The food and drink is VERY expensive. Never been up there myself.

This is the official website -

And a listing on TopTable... includes 360° view -

can we all come?
can we all come?

Sure ill make the reservation under Skyscraper city, for 20. is that ok?
Me too please!
I'm affraid of heights.

Gary Rhodes has a resturant on the 24th floor I think?
Yep, and if that's still too high there's a "Cafe Zero" on the ground floor. :D
I have been a couple of times now. It is really not much more than one long corridoor. You have to reserve tables for 30 minutes to an hour at a time. The bar itself it nothing special, but you go there for the view and not the bar.

BTW. You need some form of ID to get in and they scan your bags etc before you get to the lift so leave your guns at home.
^^^ Well that counts me out..I dont go out without one these days.

Whats the point of this thread if you are frightened by heights youngling..in fact whats the point of belonging to this forum.... ;)

God! Tts really difficult to type with a 6 week old kitten zonked out on your lap!
Count me in too! I fancy a milkshake. We'll play 21 dares too. Who ever lands on 21 has to do the dare of jumping from Tower 42 Bar to the Swiss Re Bar!

**giggles hehehehehe i'm so childish**

Edit: Just seen the menu. It's got a fucking shit menu anyway. No Cod and Chips with Mushy Peas

I'm not surprised - it was originally designed only as a viewing gallery. When NatWest occupied the building, there were client entertainment rooms on Levels 39 and 41 (with kitchens on L40). I imagine those are mostly now let to tenants.

im not frightened of hights
Just looked at their menu and wine list - What a rip off, overpriced and they havent much of a selection for a champagne bar either.

Think i'll save my coppers for when the other city towers are constucted (by then i'll be able to afford the entire menu too ;))
Turning into a potential SSC gathering perchance?

Looks like we'd get a better turn out than the last one which ended up as Jimbo and I having curry and beers on Tower Bridge Road!

ha, and nothing wrong with that. With the attendance record of the London forum at potential social gatherings, I'm not prepared to attempt to book any sort of space in T42 on my credit card!

eddie88 - I've already posted these a good few times on various threads, but if you do get up there, this is the sort of view you'll get (taken the Thursday before Good Friday, 2007):
