EBRD to Finance Construction of Vlora Airport

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will finance the construction of the Vlora airport in southern Albania.

Yesterday Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke at the EBRD summit in London and highlighted the Vlora airport as one of the projects in which Albania would ask the EBRD to invest. Sources have confirmed for Exit that the EBRD has responded positively to Rama’s request.

Which airport makes more sense and justification: Vlora or Kukes? In my opinion, Vlora may have more potential (tourism) than the outlying (peripheral) Kukes.

Have you ever been to Polish countrysie?:)
Polish thread dedicated airports and air transport

Honestly speaking, I was at Tirana airport. Maybe not the best, but I couldn't complain either. This year I was also planning to visit Tirana, but COVID thwarted the plans. The problem is indeed the monopoly position of the port of Rinas, but can Albania afford more airports? I don't know, but if it's really the best place for a new one, it's south of Albania. It does not have to be a big airport, but you have to take into account, in order to encourage low-cost airlines (apart from charters) to take regular flights, you will have to encourage them financially (discounts, "marketing" fees) and probably the airport may be constantly in short supply.

for comparison: time availability of airports in Poland in 2018
(Wielkopolskie voivodeship in terms of area and population is similar to Albania, although it is a lowland area)

Only 5 ports earn for themselves (2019): WAW, KRK, GDN, WRO, KTW.
