Seen a thread on Twitter, all 91 apartments in Victoria Square have been deemed unsafe and all tenants have to leave immediately. Some were already out as this has been going on for a while, but it was confirmed today that the support beams are prone to "catastrophic failure" :eek:hno:

(BTW I did search for the Victoria Square thread but couldn't find it)

If true then that's absolutely mental and I feel so sorry for the residents.

Sounds like there's a fundamental design issue with the apartments if all columns are now at risk of catastrophic failure, even after repair. Surely the buildings original contractor and engineer would be liable for this?

I'm guessing the columns used for the loading bay and shops below are entirely different to the apartment block ones, hence them not closing the entire building down on H&S grounds. I highly doubt it's "Profit before People" as the council and the authorities would not let an unsafe structure remain open....
