40-bed charity hospital to rise in Victorias City
October 10, 2017
THE City Government of Victorias and the Memphis Mission of Mercy signed a memorandum of understanding Monday, October 9, for the establishment of a two storey, 40-bed Memphis Mission of Mercy Surgery Center at Barangay 13.
The signing was lead by Mayor Francis Frederick Palanca and Dr. Nia Noel Millen Zalamea in rites held at Victorias City Hall.
The city’s counterpart is the donation of a two-hectare property near the Victorias City Coliseum within the 20-hectare Victorias City Green Business Park.
The surgical hospital, which will be manned by both local and foreign physicians, will be made free for all patients.
This is a non-profit hospital which will be run by a foundation, Zalamea said.
This will be 100-percent free since this is a charitable medical center that will cater to major surgeries using modern medical equipment and facilities, he added.
Zalamea said that Memphis Mission of Mercy has been doing missionary work for the past 19 years.
They have chosen Victorias City because of their good relationship which started during the time of former Mayor Remedios Bantug, aunt of Palanca, he added. This is a blessing for the City of Victorias, Palanca said.
