150-year-old ancestral house gone in 60 minutes
Vigan City, Ilocos Sur — More than a week after a Spanish ancestral house was razed by an hour-long fire in this heritage city, its owner and caretaker Robert Paul dL. Verzosa is still in shambles, grieving over the loss of his family’s most important heirloom dating back to the mid-1800s.

“Based on the historical accounts of my relatives, the house was built before the birthday of Dr. Jose Rizal on June 19, 1861,” says Verzosa.

^^ It was so sad that a house that has survived hundreds of typhoons and earthquakes for centuries has been torn down by fire. >_<

I love the fact that most of these houses seen in these pictures are still present. :)
Vigan:Intramuros of Ilocandia

Vigan, officially the City of Vigan (Ilokano: Ciudad ti Bigan) is a fourth class city and capital of the province of Ilocos Sur in the Philippines. The city is located on the western coast of the large island of Luzon, facing the South China Sea.

It is a World Heritage Site that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines where its structures remained intact, and is well known for its cobblestone streets and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction, with colonial European architecture.
