Yesterday I came home from Vilnius, I spent there few days. It was exciting to see Vilnius at last - now I have seen all Baltic capitals. :)

Vilnius was quite attractive city with thousands of beautiful old buildings. High-rise area was a surprise, I had seen pictures of it, but I did not know it was so damn big!

Weather was not very good.. It was damn cold, even -15C' and wind was freezing.

For Lithuanian forumers these views are maybe familiar.

This picture is not from Vilnius, I took it from plane. I like it somehow.

Orthodox church in Old Town.

I love this tiny lane. :)

Two cats in our quest house back yard.

Just a wall...

Scruffy and renovated buildings in Old Town.

Old Town roofs and few towers.

Again lovely tiny lane.

Flag of Lithuania (this one was in front of the University of Vilnius).

This is surely 100000000000000 pic taken of this object..

Scruffy but beautiful..

TV-Tower was HUGE, even bigger than Teletorn in Tallin.

View from TV-Tower; commieblocks.

God is coming!! :runaway:

Vilnius Downtown. I took this picture from Reval Hotel Lietuva's Sky Bar.

Typical tourist pic...

River Neris and high-rise architecture.

Baroque and soviet style towers.

Beautiful church towers and moon.

Gedimino Prospektas

And once more: tiny and lovely lane.

This is one of the main streets of Vilnius Old Town.

Thanks for your attention. :)

What a surprise, Jape! I didn't have a slightest idea you were in Vilnius:)

Pictures are great, they're all from rather common angles but quality is exceptional, you seem to be a very good photographer, all pictures look very professional :eek:kay:
And I can't believe you took all this at -15C, that's a heroic deed! :D

Now a little correction, this is not an Orthodox but a Catholic church ;)

Great pictures, man :eek:kay:

Awesome mate :eek:kay: I assumed to see some bad weather pics while loading, but these appeared to be very charming :)

Nice composition here

Colors of flag make the photo look very summerish :D

You can even see 26fl Helios rising there :)

O wow, Jape! :applause: Thank you for this lovely show! :)

You were very brave: you did your Vilnius visit in mid-winter! I spent a couple of wonderful days in that lovely city last summer and had a great time. I was fortunate to have John as my guide, and I met other LT forumers as well. :cheers1:

And, as John says: excellent photos! :eek:kay:
Really great pictures, Jape !
Very good photos Jape! And i'm glad that you liked Vilnius ;)

I just mean it was damn cold. Was last weekend exceptionally cold in Vilnius? Locals said it was much colder than usually at this time of year.

I think it was not a heroic deed to me - I live in Helsinki which locates over 600km north from Vilnius and I have experience what it's like to take photos when it's -25C'. ;) In Vilnius it was painfull to take photos without gloves, sometimes I had to suck my fingers to keep them warm... But I bought new warm leather gloves, and then it was easier. :)

And Offtopic: Happy Birthday Whose Homepage!

Very nice photos but I think that you've chosen wrong time to visit Vilnius - it's cold, the streets looks dirty, city looks quite grey, etc. In summer it is much better to visit Vilnius.
Great photos. I like pics of small and charming oldtown streets. Quite much commieblocks are there, but I have thought that it´d be cool to live in renovated high-rise commieblock.

I didn`t know that there`s such hill, anyway it forms cool cityscape together with NCC.
great pics but i think your old town should be restored, it looks kinda neglected sadly

Old town is big and only very small part of it is not restored. Those unrestored parts also contains not the most valuable buildings.
