The only 2 hotels that Starwood Hotels have confirmed is the Le Meridien Hotel opening about a year from now in Banani and the Sheraton Hotel opening in 4 years in Purbachal. Everything else is rumors.

^^ You missed the Westins being built in Bangladesh
I won't believe it until I see it on the Starwood website. It's just a large pavement area from what I see on Google Earth. (the plot to the left of the current Westin hotel). And I was only aware of one new westin hotel being talked about in Dhaka.

Dhaka Sylhet Highway

Tourism of bangladesh is lagging behind due to harassed condition of roads of bangladesh.Govt has taken new plan to convert 7 highways of bangladesh into 4 lane highways but there is no highway from sylhet region.Sylhet is very important for tourism.Recently several accidents occured in Dhaka-Sylhet highway. So it should be converted into 4 lane.

At least put dividers if it is not possible (money-wise) to make 4-lane highways?

I think its a crying shame that we have scarce few sections of our highways with 4 lanes when next door Pakistan and India are building intercity six and eight lane highways right and left. Speaks of the amount of chori, kickbacks and indecision at the RHD. I think the RAB should go for nabbing these H*r*mi B***rds before they do anything else.

Better yet -- the whole of RHD should be re-vamped starting with top-management. Look at where we got in the last ten years and where Pakistan/India did. Our road-network development should have easily matched theirs but on a smaller scale.

Sylhet the beauty queen of bangladesh

Charming Surma Valley, naturally picturesque and world’s largest tea plantations, lush green tropical forest, hills, wonderful winding pair of rivers, Haors which are big natural depressions play the roleof migratory bird’s sanctuary – these are thecharacteristics of a place one must see. And Sylhethas all of these characteristics which arewhy one must visit Sylhet.
It lies between the Khasia and the Jaintia hills on the north, and the Tripura hills on the south, Sylhet shatters themonotony of the flatnessof this land by a multitude of terraced tea gardens, rolling countryside and the exotic flora and fauna. Here the thick tropical forests thrive with many species of wildlife, spread their aroma around the typical hearth and homes of theMainpuri Tribal maidens famous for their dance. The Sylhet valley is formed by a beautiful, winding pair of rivers named the Surma and the Kushiara both of which are fed by innumerable hill streamsfrom the north and the south. The valley has good number of Haors. During winter these Haors are vast stretches of green land, but in the rainy season they turn into turbulent seas. These Haors provide a sanctuary to the millions of migratory birds who fly from Siberia across the Himalayas to avoid the severe cold there.
Sylhet has also a very fascinating and wealthy history. Before the conquest by the Muslims,it was governed by local chieftains. In 1303, the great Saint Hazrat Shah Jalal came to Sylhet fromDelhi with a band of 360 devotees to preach Islamand defeated the then Raja Gour Gobinda.
Sylhst region has an interesting feature. It is the aboriginal tribes such as the Tipperas, the Monipuris, Khasis and Garos who still live in their ancient ways in thehills, practicing their age-old rites, rituals, customs and traditions. During festivals such as, Rash Leela (Full-moon night in February) and Doljatra, the attractive young girls dressed in colorful robes, dance with the male members of their choice & love. The Monipuris perform their famous dance, based on allegorical lovethemes of the ancient mythology.

I agree that corruption is the key reason Bangladesh haven't had any expressways built over the last 10 years compared to neighboring countries.

But at the same time our geography also has a part to play, being a delta and crisscrossed by over 200 rivers means that we have to build lot more bridges for connectivity than say Pakistan or Srilanka. If we add the amount of investment made across the various bridges (Jamuna, Rupsha or Meghna) it will easily surpass 5 billion US dollars. With this money, we could have easily upgraded multiple 2/4 lane highways to six lane expressways.

At the moment, we just need one key expressway, which is Dhaka-Chittagong, a good 4 lane highway with divider should suffice for connectivity with other divisional headquarters. Bridges like Padma would be more critical as it has the potential to connect SW part of Bangladesh to rest of the country and spur economic development.
