In 2004 Bombay Dyeings decided to move its textile manufacturing facilities from Textile Mills (Worli) and Spring Mills (Wadala) to Ranjangaon close to Pune. This move was made aimed at freeing prime land in the city to enable real estate development. Soon after the project was stuck because of a PIL. In 2008, Bombay Dyeings emerged victorious when the case was heard at the SC.

Initially the development at Spring Mills involved residential, commercial and school segments. Here's a render of the residential tower that was designed by Singapore's DP architects:

The design of the tower has been retained and is now being constructed aimed at non-resi sectors like commercial, IT and hospitality. This mixed used development involves construction of a 38 floor tower comprising of 5 lakh sq ft of space.

Larsen & Toubro bagged the construction order in April 2008 and announced the completion of the tower by December 2011. Given how fast the building is being constructed, It should top out within the next 6 months or so.

^^ Nice. Going up quickly.
The latest design of the tower also designed by DP architects is aimed at non-resi sectors and has not been released. This mixed used development involves construction of a 38 floor tower comprising of 5 million sq ft of space.
that must be a mistake. surely 5 lakh and not 5 million sq ft

So it turns out that they decided to retain the design despite changing the targeted market segment. I've updated the first post.

btw Sterling Engineering Services says on their website that the tower will have 41 floors --> Clicky
that must be a mistake. surely 5 lakh and not 5 million sq ft
Nice catch. But that's what it said in this article:
The turnkey project involves construction of mixed-use developments of approximately four million sq ft at the Textile Mills in Worli and five million sq ft at Spring Mills in Wadala. These are expected to be completed by the end of December 2011.
....
In Wadala, the mixed used development will comprise 53 lakh sq ft of retail, 14 lakh sq ft of commercial, 20 lakh sq ft IT and 7 lakh sq ft hotel.
clicky
Huge thanks to all of you again.
It seems they have started a bit of cladding work .I will be posting more photos after a few days.Hopefully by that time cladding work would have progressed.
