Watkins Glen is a village at the southern end of Seneca Lake, and is the seat of Schuyler County. The population is around 2,100.

Watkins Glen was founded on land owned by John Watkins and settled by Dr. Samuel Watkins. The village was first named "Salubria" in the 1820s, and was renamed "Jefferson". The village was renamed again to "Watkins" in 1852.

Watkins Glen State Park is located on the western edge of the village, and is up to 400 feet deep.

The glen was created by glaciers that deepened the Seneca valley, followed by a stream of water on the plateau above the valley that wore through the shale.

my mom's hometown...still have family in Watkins.

Wonderful town, actually a wild place when INDY or NASCAR is running, the track, Watkins Glen International supports this town hands down, the state park is great and the gorge is insane.

If you haven't ate at Mr. Chicken or the Marina...shame on you! lol

Didn't they used to race the cars on the streets of the village?
