Let's talk investment (in Congo). Anyone here does or owns a business in Congo? What industries are profitable at this time? Services (Hotels, etc), Agriculture, Retail, etc.

If you're already successful, please share your knowledge with us who are trying to reap the potential benefits of our country.

In my humble opinion, you should take at least 3 months of travelling around the country or visiting your relatives in DR CONGO, i think you"ll find yourself where and how to invest in the country...
for a small investment, I'll recommend Agriculture, transportation, timber and livestock.....such as raising pigs, cows

For big investment, I'll say construction, retail shops, banks etc...

It seems like foreigners do a quick market research and dive right in

Not a big fan of livestock (don't know much about it). How would one make a business out of it in congo? Farming?

Hotels seem interesting too.

To get a niche market since you already live in the diaspora and have the knowledge, you have a leg up regarding how business works...For example you could approach local hotels, businesses, and embassies and inquire on their sources of procurement and approvisionements...

With that info, you can figure out how to supply them and how much to charge them.....as opposed to selling your goods to local markets....or maybe you could sell part of your production to the local markets

Once the government leaves office, there will be an "explosion" of growth and investments thus there will be opportunities...Dr Congo is on a straight growth path for the next 10 years or more...

all is open in congo, we do all but former governor chapwe derailed alot of our projects, the government now is open to investment. Me for example i'm in the security sector, mineral transit (they showed our company on tele 50), real estate and construction but due to former blockage from Chapwe we are still at a transitional step, early stages I have been back for 4 years.

Sounds like you already have your seeds implemented. This is what I'm thriving for man, I just need the know-how from people like you.

I was thinking of getting into Hotel/Real Estate, but I don't know how profitable that'll be.
