Since it's not a big project, I'll put this thread in here. This sounds pretty cool...

Welcome Gate To Be Built In Chinatown

APRIL 06TH, 2005

It’s often difficult to tell where one neighborhood ends and another begins in New York City, especially in Downtown Manhattan, where Chinatown, Little Italy and Greenwich Village intersect. But that will soon be cleared up.

The City Council on Tuesday approved $250,000 for a welcome gate in Chinatown.

The proposed arch would be 45 feet high and about 80 feet long. It's expected to take about a year-and-a-half to be built, but the actual site has not yet been chosen.

Chinatowns in Philadelphia, Boston and San Francisco all have similar gates.
