For Indiana; Gary is #1 with around 84%

Indianapolis has the highest number, but the percentage is around 26%

There might be other cities with higher percentages than Indy, especially the North, Northwest areas, but I'm not sure.

It's funny how most of those towns and cities in Texas have barely a few hundred people (and in several cases less than 100). For example, Neylandville has a population of 56, with 54 of the 56 being African American. Moore Station has a population of 184, with 182 being African American. In both cases the "other two" are Caucasian.;)

Yeah for all intents and purposes most of those places I listed earlier are just small towns in East Texas which was always considered the more southern part of the state. Elsewhere African Americans don't really have a large presence.

Of course there are a few exceptions since Lancaster is a moderate sized suburb of Dallas and Beaumont-Port Arthur roughly have 100,000 people in their respective cities.

Utah has a very low black population, but as of the 2000 Census:

- Dugway (15.0%) (military base)
- Clearfield (3.6%) (this could be because it's next to Hill Air Force Base)
- South Salt Lake (2.9%) (this is where I live)
- Ogden (2.3%)
- Washington Terrace (2.3%)
- Salt Lake City (1.9%)

Percentages for the 10 largest cities (as of 2000 Census):

- Salt Lake City (1.9%)
- West Valley City (1.2%)
- Provo (0.5%)
- Sandy (0.5%)
- Ogden (2.3%)
- Orem (0.3%)
- West Jordan (0.6%)
- Layton (1.6%)
- Taylorsville (0.9%)
- St. George (0.2%)

It will be interesting to see how these have changed once the 2010 Census figures are released.

I'm almost sure that they would increase.

Indy has a %171 increase in non-whites in the outlying counties. That is/isn't saying a lot because Indy has (for a reason) been talked about as a "white-bread city". Anyway those counties are: Johnson, Hamilton, Hendricks, Hancock, and Boone.

I don't really know your city, but I have been there 3 times, only once did I actually spend over a week. SLC Valley seems to be doing the right thing, as far as atracting new people to the community.

Has anyone ever heard of Southfield?

Black neighborhoods have much higher crime rates than white neighborhoods.

Why do you think Will Smith's mom sent him to live with is Auntie in Bel Air?

Do you think anyone would believe a story about a white kid from Bel Air who is getting bullied because he drives the wrong series of BMW and he gets sent to live with with his Auntie in the safe neighborhoods of West Philly? It would be called the Cracker of W. Philly.
Somebody ban this dude.

Southfield has a large African American population, and the crime rate is comparable to most other inner-ring suburbs with largely white populations.
Actually Southfield has a crime rate that is about 50% higher than the national average. The national average is also higher because of blakcs. If we compared Southfield to a white neighborhood there would be no comparison. White neighborhoods are much safer.

Why do you think affluent blacks aways move out of the black neighborhoods?
