Every 10 years.

And the last year is the 60th anniversary. It should be celebrated bigger than the usual. Probably the 100th or 120th anniversary will also big.
OMG we have to wait 9 years for another military parade :(

I know, how dare the Chinese government not spend tens, if not hundreds, of millions of dollars on military parades every single year? Don't they know they are disappointing people all over the Internet?
It became a once-every-10-year event not long ago. In the 50's it was an annual thing, but certainly not to this scale. And there was no such parade from the 60's to the early 80's.

The last three parades happened in 1984, 1999, and 2009. No parade in 1989 for obvious reason. IMO the 1999 parade is still the best, although we have live broadcast on HDTV in 2009.

I like how the Russians do it every year :)
I'm happy for China to keep quiet for a few years though...

Exactly. Give the West less excuse to bash China.

What what what? Chinese military parades are #@%$ing awesome. Who would bash China for having a parade? Almost every country with a military to speak of has those. Ok, maybe Fox News would bash China for that but they'd bash it for blinking an eye.

I only saw neutral news regarding the 2009 event.
Military Parades are stupid IMO. Its soooooooooo 1950's. Modern states shouldn't have to do this to foster nationalistic feelings. China is more and more becoming a modern state building its Economy and focusing on the people. Military parades are reserved for opulent dictators. As China sheds the latter in favor of the former, Military parades in China will be less and less common. Good riddance!
Yeah , good point !
I love parades, but they are indeed too expensive. Once a decade is reasonable. Maybe a flight show every year would be OK, together with some modest event at Tiananmen.

Only a country with inferiority complexes would consider that point. I don't see any Western country doing or not doing whatever to gain China's approval. That master-pupil attitude is terrible. Just my opinion :D

I agree.

I made that statement with some bitterness in case you didn't catch it.
My bad, I didn't.
