It doesn't really exist anymore like you see in the movies. The American West is a vast & sparsely populated area until you get to the few large cities within it - Denver, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque. The West Coast is nothing like the Western US regional culture. Los Angeles, San Francisco & Seattle are large, prosperous, cosmopolitan cities.
