Nashville will definitely have the better skyline.
Jacksonville's will be nice but not as vast as Nashville's or as tall.

Jacksonville's skyline is expanding on both sides of the St. John's River, so it will definitely be at least as vast and expansive as Nashville's. Aside from the Viridian and the proposed Signature tower, what else does Nashville have on the drawing board? Jacksonville has a slew of towers proposed/under construction last I checked.

I Agree.
Jax is very much the winner here. It will have a much larger skyline than Louisville and Nashville in 5 years I think.

No way. Jax is a nice city but what proposed towers are you talking about? I see a couple on SSP under construction but both are under 400 feet. On Emporis I see a nice 70 story about 700 feet tall and another about 675. Both are great but nothing that would push Jax past Nashville.

Louisville is behind both cities now and Museum Plaza will actually be a step backward as far as design goes. Having been to Louisville several times, imagining that hideous oil derek thing plopped down in the skyline just makes me sick.

Read my list over in the developments forum here. You have no idea. LOL!

Nashville has more under construction, or about to be under construction, than Jacksonville currently. But to compare the two is a bit of a stretch. Already Nashville has a better skyline IMO....but I am a homer, LOL!!!!

There are a number of towers that have been proposed, but not published here as well. I can think of three off the top of my head downtown. One being next to the new ballpark downtown.

well go see a doctor

i think a lot of people seriously need to watch the video, which puts the building in context. I don't know of any other building being built that will have among other amenities, a hotel, restaurants, a farmers market, a grocery store, condominiums, lofts, office space, and other retail. It will house Louisville’s largest contemporary art museum as well as the University of Louisville’s Master of Fine Arts program. ....

what else can yo uask for?
as far as skyline goes, its like having two 50 + story towers built in one. it will add a lot

Guys, I could care less who has the best skyline 5 years from now, but let me clear up any misconceptions on the Jax development boom, since Emporis isn't the best source of info on this subject. Please use the link, if you're really interested on what's really happening in downtown Jax. Personally, I'd be (happily) suprised if the other two's highrise construction pace can keep up.

Jacksonville Projects & Construction List (complete with project renderings)

There are currently 3 towers over 20 stories (38, 28, 21) under construction, with three more (51, 31, 23) scheduled to break ground in the next couple of months. Height wise, the tallest on the drawing board (scheduled to break ground in a year is in the 650' to 700' range). A couple more are in +600' range. Other than that there are +20 (conservative number) towers proposed over 20 stories.

"A bit of a stretch"? Between Nashville and Charlotte forumers, y'all kill me sometimes. In terms of skyline and developments, Nashville and Jacksonville appear to be quite comparable right now. Nashville's skyline is cool, but the typical Jacksonville skyline shots from the other side of the river don't really capture half of Jacksonville's buildings. Here is one that does:

Jacksonville also has several historic buildings it has managed to preserve over the years (or maybe I should say failed to demolish).

At any rate, we can compare proposals all day; let's see some dirt moving first.
