When I saw this I initially supposed it was the 1960s dross that this project would be replacing.

Could a moderator please change title of thread to the following :

White City Place | White CIty | Pre - Planning
Looks like the BBC wants to largely abandon W12. Indeed White City was once seen as a replacement for Broadcasting House, but the money ran out and it became an office complex with some television shows being broadcast from there.
Although I am a Northerner, I think the whole Salford project has been a massive waste of money. The BBC spent millions upgrading the Television Centre for HD and then was told to build new studios in Salford. £ 500 million has been wasted on moving sport, children's, internet and breakfast programming to Salford, while at the same time the BBC has lost or abandoned a fair part of its sports coverage.
I know someone asked to have this thread renamed for White City Place, but it does seem to have general White City area developments in it as well as for projects on the old Olympic Stadium site (White City Place).

This is the thread for developments in BBC Media Village. Other projects have their own respective threads.

I see the off topic stuff is from 2008, thanks for clarifying Mr.Cladding.

Looking at this BBC release: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2015/media-village its clear that there just seem to be 3 new buildings on empty plots. I'm assuming low rise like the rest of the development.

This is now approved - can the thread title be changed and this moved out of the construction forum as it's not yet U/C:

Lendlease go-ahead for London White City office trio

Lendlease has received the planning green light from Hammersmith & Fulham Council to build more than 1m sq ft of offices on the BBC Media Village site in west London.

Landmark Gateway East building

Developers Stanhope and Mitsui Fudosan plan to build three office blocks at White City Place on the 17-acre vacant site adjacent to the Imperial College campus.

The landmark office complex plan marks the third phase of development at White City and includes a major stepped block known as Gateway East rising to 21 storeys.

It will be accompanied by a second big block rising to 11 storeys next to the third smaller building up to four floors high.

Contractor Lendlease has drawn up the construction plan for the developers with construction now expected to start shortly.

Architect Allies and Morrison designed the project, with AKTII on board as structural engineer and Sweco acting as services engineer.

The new Gateway development will include extensive public realm improvements, which will link with the landscaping works underway at White City Place including North Avenue with new trees, raised gardens, lawns and the creation of a Central Square.

The three Gateway buildings will complement the six existing buildings at White City Place. These include MediaWorks and WestWorks which have been refurbished, Garden House which has been let to the Royal College of Art. The other three – Broadcast Centre, Energy Centre and Lighthouse buildings – are pre-let to the BBC.

The Gateway development will complete White City Place, which will total over 2 m sq ft.

sot that Theatre has gone?
Yes it has, it was only a meanwhile use for the site. It was envisaged to around for a bit longer than it had been the case.

We have cladding.

Also Gateway West looks to be topped out and took delivery of its huge circular window as I walked past. Will get a photo when uncovered.

The wrappers are starting to come off Gateway West.

Seen from South Africa Road (EdCity site just to the left):

Some very 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' aesthetics:

Gateway Central now mostly complete and ready for interior fitout:
