I've always wonder why there are not many african people living in my country.

I've heard of people from Senegal and Somalia but never from Nigeria, Tanzania.

I would love to have more africans in Lima, most of black people are Afroperuvians (less than 2% pop), but no migrants from Africa, and up to what I've seen african people seem to be passionate live lovers.

Do you know about southamerican contries but Brazil with african migration or oportunities in southamerica?

I've always been interested on knowing more about the big African Countries and promoting qualify migration.

My country Peru is probably the one with the shortest African origin population. and up to what I know African Countries have interestingly qualify professionals.

What do you know About Peru?

Well Somalis i have no idea, i know about 2 girls working as models and Senegalese, mainly do the same as in Argentina and Chile, they Sell Copies of fancy watches and jewelry.

There are Haitians working on manual works and factories, but it's not the same, African people is known for being more optimist.

What is there in Peru for Africans to immigrate?
Is Peru a developed country?
I think its to far to travel for most african people and the country still lags behind in terms of its economy growth campare to Europe and US. Most people cross land and sea for a better life in other words and i dont think Peru as a country is yet ready to provide refogess the same oppertournity as the continents mention above.

Though Peru is a beautiful country with amazing landscape (very mountainous and green) like north Ethiopia.

yep. but the level of development of peru is far from ethiopia.
peruvian per capita gdo is about 6,000 dollars by year in ethiopia is 1,000
there are few immigrants in peru, but i bet it will be a lot in 20 years cause the country is growing a lot.
I know that Peru celebrates the new year in a rather violent manner, atleast in the rural areas :)

On a serious note there is nothing in Peru that attracts african immigrants, mainly because of it's economic position and then of course Peru is located very far away and is also very foreign for the ordinary african.

Interesting point of view, and information.

As someone said, income in Peru is not that low and main cities have good live quality and improving.

But as you said is not that developed to be considered as an option for you.

Anyhow I still think the main reason is that we are so far away geografically, as for professional on engineering and other technical careers, oportunities are abundant and mainly covered by locals with an uprising number of near by contries inmigrants.

Sincerely I think it would be great to have more africans over here as Lima is basically a melting pot but the Afroperuvian population is so little that i kind of feel that part of our diversity is getting lost.

Somalis in Peru? Now I've heard everything. Global nomads indeed.
Africans in general don't really immigrate to Latin America. However, this might change in the future as this region gets more developed.
While I think distance is obviously the biggest barrier between African migrating to Peru not that long ago I remember reading a suprsing story about Ethiopian migrants in Latin/Central America...Supposedly they were using the region as a transit point to reach the US....Now how those Ethiopians migrants made it across the Atlantic to those Latin American countries is beyond me but it does happen apparently.. I don't know much about Perru but several of its' bordering neighbor countries(Brazil,Colombia, and I think Eduadar) have a significant black/African origin populations though ofcourse these black people's are a legacy of their ancestors being kidnaped and brought to the new world by European crminals/colonist..

I gues the European land grabbers and body snatches didn't bring as many blacks to Peru since it's the ethnic make up there more Latin American countries like Mexcio,Guatamala or El Salvador whom have predomitely Amerindian decent populations and minimal black/African influences as opposed to Peru's neighbors whom as I mentioned have a strong African decent presence...Though it's nice to see Central/Southern American countries like Peru whom population are majority native/idigenous American ifnluenced I agree that it wouldn't hurt for Peru to have more African origin people to bring some diversity to the country.
