Crossrail is to begin systems integration dynamic testing (SIDT) on the central section of the network today.
The testing involves running up to eight trains through the central section of the railway.
It comes after an 11 day blockade to get the central section ready for extensive train testing.
The blockade was put in place following a
“very successful” six week blockade in the summer which was set up to allow critical works to be completed and
make up for time lost due to Covid-19 restrictions.
During a London Assembly Transport Committee meeting earlier this week, Crossrail chief executive Mark Wild added that the latest blockade had been put in place to get the railway ready for SIDT which is due to begin on 3 December (today).
The testing will involve running up to eight trains through the central section of the railway.
The next phase of dynamic testing follows a successful trail of six Class 345 trains in the central section on 5 November.
If this phase of testing goes as planned, the railway could enter trial running as early as March next year.
Trial running will involve the intensive operational testing of the railway, paving the way for it to open during the first half of 2022.
