40-Story, 554-Unit Residential Tower Rising At 2 North 6th Place, Williamsburg

Near the end of 2013, Brownstoner reported on applications for Douglaston Development’s 40-story, 554-unit residential tower at 2 North 6th Place, on Williamsburg’s northern stretch of East River waterfront, and now photos by Tectonic show the building under construction. It appears to be 11 stories above street level. Based on a rendering from J&A Concrete, the base is close to being structurally complete. A small 678 square-foot retail unit is planned on the ground floor and units will average 925 square feet apiece. Stephen B. Jacobs Group is designing and completion is expected in 2017.

Despite concerns regarding the MTA’s planned closing of the L train in 2018, Douglaston Development’s The Edge III forges ahead with construction on their project along the Williamsburg waterfront. Situated at 2 North 6th Street, the tower marks Douglaston’s third tower on the East River, following The Edge North Tower at 34 North 7th Street and The Edge South Tower at 22 North 6th Street. The Edge III topped out in March at 40 stories high and a height of 398 feet. Expected to be complete in 2017, the tower will ultimately host 554 no fee residential units and 678 square feet of retail at its base.
