Winnipeg - Canada
Population - 640.000

This is one of my favorite cities in Canada mainly due to its very cold winters and low cost of living. Please find below a table with the average temperatures for the year in Winnipeg. Please note that temperatures range from -45C in winter  to +40C in summer :eek:hno:

The Manitoba Legislature is a stunning building.

Winterpeg's on the list (albeit in summer :D).
A very underated city architecturally, you'll enjoy it pallo.
its Adelaide with snow, except for the Legislature building, which owns anything we have.
That is so true. Winnipeg is probably the most insulted city in Canada like Adelaide is the most insulted city in Australia

By the way, housing is still very much affordable in Winnipeg as you can buy an apartment downtown for $90.000 and the city also has rent control in place.

thats cheap.

what does a 3BR house cost in a good suburb?
wow. how far from the CBD?

something like that here, depending on locality anywhere between $800 000 and $1.5mil.

the second one, well over $1 million for sure, thats like a Springfield house.

Everything is close to the CBD in Winnipeg
The city is not that big, so you would probably be
20 minutes drive from any outer suburbs

Well ....

- -40C temperatures in winter and that is because Winnipeg is on a flat surface there is no mountain and no sea and therefore no protection from the weather
- In summer the mosquitos are a huge problem in the city in fact they have trucks going around spraying pesticide everywhere
- High crime rates, up until a few years ago Winnipeg was murder capital of Canada but since last year that title has been passed on to Edmonton
- The only form of public transport in the city is buses

Wow, is traffic very light there or something? Winnipeg seems to sprawl 15 km from the CBD to the west and south! They must have a very efficient set of highways!

I know a guy that went to Canada several years ago and he said Winnipeg was the only place in Canada (a tolerant, open minded country) that felt scary and backward.
What did he mean by scary and backward?
Not as Liberal - probably more like the USA.

Small "L", JayT, small "l". ;)

But yes, that's pretty much it.

That's funny considering that Manitoba is one of the only provinces run by the far left NDP (new democratic party)
