i hope when the north shore line comes, theres gonna be a station at elias, at he junction of elias rd and pasir ris dr 3 (elias mall). then i can walk home in under 5 minutes and those who're going to pasir ris park can just stop at this station...

hmm, but then when it comes i'll probably be living overseas... ok scrap that thought =P
Matrinchie reservoir? how to spell har?

yea...i like to go there but its so inaccesible from my place:eek:hno:
I'm coming from the angle not so much of an MRT right outside my doorstep...but more of what I envisage for the future.

It would be exciting to experience the future at the Marina Bay interchange.

Also, I am quite excited about the Newton interchange and what could be developed around it (large plots of land around it now)
Central Line

For me, i had planned a MRT line that will serve the Serangoon Garden's, Seletar's, Thomson's, Kampong Java's, Orchard's, River Valley's, Bukit Purmei's and Sentosa Cove's residents. I had planned this in 2006. Here's how the line will go:

From Serangoon (Sg) Stn, it will go north along Sg central, Yio Chu Kang (YCK) Link, YCK Rd, Ang Mo Kio (AMK) Ave 6, Marymount Rd, Toa Payah Rise, Thomson Rd, Kampong (Kg) Java Rd, Bukit Timah Rd, Selegie Rd, Prinsep St, Bras Basah Rd, Orchard Rd, Tanglin Rd, Grange Rd, Hoot Kiam Rd, River Valley Rd, Delta Rd, Lower Delta Rd, Kg Bahru Rd, Telok Blangah Rd, Sentosa Gateway (Gw), Gw Ave, Artilarry Ave, Allanbrooke Rd, Allanbrooke Rd East and Cove Ave.

Here are the MRT stations along Central Line:
Note: Station's names in Italics will be underground

1) Sg: Interchange station with NEL's & CCL's Serangoon Station
2) Sg Garden: Along YCK link between BLK 211/214 & Sg Stadium
3) Sg North: Junction of YCK Rd, AMK Ave 3 & Hougang (Hg) Ave
4) Hg North: Junction of YCK rd, AMK ave 5 & Buangkok Green
5) Seletar: Open space between YCK rd & Fernvale lane
6) Tamarind: Along YCK rd between Tamarind Rd & Begonia Rd
7) Sunrise: Junction of YCK rd & Sunrise Way
8) Lentor: 200m perpendicular away from the junction of YCK rd & AMK st 64 in the open space; station will open when the surrounding area develops.
9) YCK: Along AMK ave 6; built beside NSL's YCK Station; Interchange station with NSL's YCK Station
10) Bishan Park: Along AMK Ave 6 between AMK st 24 & 31
11) Sin Ming: Along Marymount Rd between bus stops B09/B10 & B11/B12
12) Marymount: Interchange station with CCL's Marymount Station
(A tunnel entrance/exit will be built in the open space between Marymount Rd & Thomson Rd)
13) Thomson: Interchange station with CCL's Thomson Station
14) Balestier: Junction of Thomson Rd, Whitley Rd & Balestier Rd
15) Novena: Interchange station with NSL's Novena Station
16) Cavenagh: Junction of Cavenagh Rd, Kg Java Rd & Keng Lee Rd
17) Little India: Interchange station with NEL's & DTL's Little India Station
18) Selegie: Open space opposite Peace Centre along Selegie Rd
19) Dhoby Ghaut: Interchange station with NSL's, NEL's & CCL's Dhoby Ghaut Station
20) Cairnhill: Junction of Orchard rd, Carinhill rd & Grange rd
21) Orchard: Junction of Orchard Rd, Scotts Rd & Paterson Rd; Interchange station with NSL's Orchard Station
22) Cuscaden: Junction of Tanglin Rd, Orchard Rd & Orange Groove Rd
23) Tanglin: Junction of Grange Rd, Orchard Boulevard & Rochalie Rd
24) Paterson: Junction of Grange Rd, Paterson Hill, Hoot Kiam Rd & Irwell Bank Rd
25) Delta: Near Valley Point along River Valley Rd
26) Tiong Bahru: Junction of Lower Delta Rd & Tiong Bahru Rd; Interchange station with EWL's Tiong Bahru Station
27) Mount Faber: Junction of Lower Delta Rd, Telok Blangah Way & Bukit Purmei Rd
28) HarbourFront: Along Sentosa Gateway between VivoCity & St. James Power Station; Interchange station with NEL's HarbourFront Station & Sentosa Express's Sentosa Station
29) Gw: Along Gw Ave near Gw Carpark; station will open when Sentosa IR opens
(A tunnel entrance/exit will be built in the open space along Artillery Ave between the roundabout of Gw Ave, Maritime Ave & Artillery Ave and the roundabout of Artillery Ave & Allanbrooke Rd)
30) Ficus: Along Allanbrooke Rd near Sentosa Office; station will open when the surrounding area develops
31) Sentosa Cove: At the roundabout of Cove Ave & Ocean Drive; station will open when either the surrounding area develops or there are residents living in Sentosa Cove

I took a few minutes to draw your line 'cause I like it ;-)

I didn't place all the stations for the sake of readability, only the interchanges and a few other ones where it wouldn't crowd the map too much.
The "problem" of your line is that it has a lot of redundancy with a portion of NS line, but since NS line is a bit overcapacity already, I guess it could be viable to double it in the future.

Personally, I think there is a good potential to extend your line from Serangoon to Parkway Parade :) Maybe I'll work on that one day if I'm bored enough ^ ^

I think the line is weird. Why would you want to go to Seletar first before going downtown?

If you were wanting to go downtown, from Serangoon you would take NEL.

hmm...is the line going to be entirely underground and it will be under the road right?

Are any buildings going to have to be demolished to make way for the line? :D
How about a fast speed train from east to west.
1. Changi Airport, 2. Tampines, 3. Serangoon, 4. Bishan, 5. Bukit Batok, 6. Boon Lay. travelling at abt 200km/h

from east to west, just need 15 minutes!
How about a Bishan LRT line? (I know, I know, LRTs are inefficient)
There could be 2 loops, one west loop, one east loop.
West loop:
Bishan CCL/NSL, Marymount CCL, Shunfu, Soo Chow (Thomson Plaza), Bright Hill, (Flametree Condo area), Bishan Park (Bishan Park Sec Sch), Sin Ming, Whitley (Along Bishan St 22 or 24, can't remember), Binchang (outside Catholic High Sec section), Bishan CCL/NSL

East loop:
Bishan CCL/NSL, no name (Bishan ITE), Kuo Chuan, no name (junction of Bishan St 11, 13), Guangyang, Bishan CCL/NSL

Or a Seletar Line?

Seletar Timor
Seletar Bahat
Seletar Airport
Picadilly
Jln Kayu
Down YCK Rd (Sgn North Est)
Serangoon Gardens
Lorong Chuan CCL
Toa Payoh East (Kim Keat)
Whampoa
Balestier
Farrer Park NEL
Jln Besar DTL
Nicoll Highway CCL

of course, there are more stations, this is just rough

According to my plan, the line is not entirely underground (Serangoon to Marymount segment and Ficus to Sentosa Cove segment of the line will be underground) and I planned it very well so that no buildings will be demolished.

on the west loop, you're missing an entire stretch of the Street 21/22 market area, extreme high traffic, so much so that at peak hrs, 5 bus svc (13, 52, 54, 88, 410) all running to Bishan Sta arent enough...

not too much traffic on east loop though, adding an lrt would most likely see svc 54 n 56 rerouted..

o n i live near bishan park sec, so if this line were ever considered (it wont be), itd be really convenient zipping to Bishan Sta...
Now I'm living in the east ... so more in that area, near Changi Prison, Loyang Rd area. There are so many condos / houses there and plus at least another four condos are going to be built (with another already under construction).

a PIE MRT line .... something cutting from Tampines all the way to Tuas across the middle of Singapore.
Mega - LRT/ South East Line :

to serve the suburbs of the east

1) stadium (ccl),
2) pine close/old airport rd,
3) geyland - budget hotels, build over gay world/PA,
4) kallang (int),
5) sims ave -bus terminal(existing, need to refurbish and expand) **connect to Aljunied to form a LOOP (int)
6) lion city/sheng shiong,
7) haig rd - schs within it vicinity,
8) joo chiat - near haig gals
9) Katong - food & LAN lovers,
10) marine parade,
11) east coat park - for beach go-ers,
12) marine crescent - another sch "infested" zone
13) siglap,
14) telok kurau - vacant bldgs near East Shore Hospital,
15) kembangan (int),
16) bedok reservoir/tp (dtl),
17) kaki bukit - car showrooms, training centre, traffic police,
18) ubi - complement it with some shopping centres i.e AMK Hub, Toa Payoh Hub
19) circuit rd - the other end, 500m away from macpherson stat, serve the elderly folks,
20) aljunied (int)

**Kim Chuan depot - closer proximity to aljunied.
heard that it has more than enough space to accomodate 2 lines, an lrt line wldn't take much space
The depot has a capacity for 78 trains (even though only 40 trains have been ordered for the line), and has an area of 100,000 m².
quoted from wikipedia

bus service no 155, 854, 66, 65, 20+ can be rerouted to better serve the other areas
(bedok, telok kurau, siglap, opera est, south of old airport rd estate present la salle sch, joo chiat).
reduce the buses heading towards mp, direct them west and some to ECP

COST - $ 8 billion (upgrading works included) 75% underground
Train - 4 carriage automated, MAGLEV anyone??

approx 18-22 stations, wif 4/5 interchange

Yes, that's good idea. But it would have to run underground, and costs was enormous then...

Personally, I'd love to go to Kampong on Pulau Ubin by MRT, or LRT from Pasir Ris. But it might bring even more tourists there, and peacefulness of this place could be crashed...
wow... old thread...

anw, big NO to [email protected] ubin, i strongly disagree with the URA plan to extend the lines there... its not ubin unless you took a boat there. and besides, mrt would bring so much crowd that the island would lose its status as the last untouched area in SG. oh and there would not be regular traffic to support the construction of a very expensive under sea tunnel.
^^

I agree with you.

Ubin should be left as it is....although it is very much human nature to want to adopt long-term plans and ideas and explore concepts, but I dont think Singapore is so short on land that it needs to touch Ubin.
it'd be nice if orchard could be renovated/expanded. its really really really tooo squeezy now.

better still if there was an mrt station between paragon and ngee ann city, wisma atria, and tangs providing a logical and convenient subterranean concourse between the four big draws of the area. after all orchard turn mall would probably need its own dedicated station.

a station to serve the tanglin area would be good too, as well as one to serve the western side of NUS.
