To make a change from my other regeneration rambles, I thought I'd do one for more realistic proposals

Here's my contribution...

The triangle between Beaconsfield Street, Princes Avenue and Kingsley Road.

The boarded up houses in this area would be refurbished with new roofs, new windows/doors, modern kitchens/bathrooms, insulation and solar panels. The exterior of the houses would be cleaned to expose the beautiful yellow brick.

The streets would be resurfaced, the pavements repaved, the street lights/street furniture upgraded.

Retail units would be refurbished or built along Granby Street and let to mainly independent businesses like corner shops, minimarkets, grocers, bars, cafes, restaurants, specialist (i.e., 'ethnic') food stores.

The houses would then be sold relatively cheaply to young first time buyers - ideally employed university graduates (to inject cash into the area to support the local business).

This would recreate a real community, support local business and young buyers as well as preventing some beautiful houses from meeting the bulldozer.

Well this thread was a huge success!! Some good images there Skewed... cheers for contributing :)

I decided to start a blog with for my ideas rather than litter this forum http://pablodiablo90.tumblr.com/
I liked the thread! I just try not to post much

Personally on the back of Studio Liverpool closing after BC last year I'd build up some tightly packed if low rise office space in the baltic triangle and offer free rent, no business rates, whatever to gaming start-ups.

Agree.

Fantastic renders too from Skewed. Lack of other realistic ideas in here though.

How about an in-river 'Statue of Liberty' type thing commemorating those who went to the New World etc?

It would be an amazing sight and turn a ride on the ferries from something 'nice' into something 'unmissable'.

Wasn't there supposed to be a large beacon/observation tower being built up at crosby to welcome shipping to the river?
