Recently there has been this free hug movement, and in case you don't know what it is, here it is:

When I saw Hzkiller's post on free hugs in China, I was very pleasant surprised, because I didn't quite expect this could happen in China. But anyways I was kinda expecting a number of replies, and apparently, no body is interested in it, nobody is even reacting positively to it. This is not the first negative reaction I've seen by Chinese people though. It's been posted on other Chinese forums and it's pretty much all been negatively received. It seems that only our fellow Chinese show quite a discomfort and disgust in such heart warming, friendly and what I believe very brave acts.

In case you aren't aware how it's generally received across the world, here is a sample of it:

Well, that's all I have to say.

That's the whole point, hug to a stranger.
Ultimately it comes down to how Chinese cannot accept hugging a stranger, while the rest of the world thinks that it's so great simply because a hug came from a stranger.

I never said that and in fact I do not agree with that. It's ok if one chooses not to hug someone because he/she's shy. In fact many people are even too shy to hug friends and you know what, I was that shy before. I believe there's nothing wrong with that.
However, when people start to THNK OR BELIEVE that it's abnormal and social anomaly for people IN GENERAL to offer free hugs, and in turn for people passing by to hug them, then we have a problem. It's not whether one would do it or not, but whether one regards the inherent nature of such actions as unacceptable or not.

Cold blooded is used to describe henious crimes such as murder. I consider myself as cold-blooded because at least I like to watch these kind of movies, not necessarily to do it right now, haha. But I don't think the cultural rejection of hug has anything to do with "cold blooded".

Wigo is right,Chinese has different culture from the west, especially on kissing,a traditional chinese girl will not hug a stranger , there is nothing wrong with it, and you cannot say this is a cold blood or bad manners or bad behavior.

Some of my friends that are Chinese and some others tell me they get cursed at with racial slurs at by hooligans in Europe mostly England in certain neighborhoods.

I have a friend who is Chinese that had a sister that was going to go to Boston for the first time, but before she went people were telling her that Boston was the most racist city in the US. I've heard Boston portrayed that way too. His sister just couldn't believe it because Boston wasn't the South. So she takes her trip and right when she steps off the airplane into the Logan airport terminal someone yells out from across the terminal, "CH*NK!!!!!"

Some people from another country can say why are Americans and British so racist?
