Development work begins on PKR 4 billion Bab-e-Pakistan Project

Lahore: The development work on Bab-e-Pakistan Project Phase I has formally begun, according to a news source. The idea of the project that spans 117 acres was conceived back in the late 80s. The project will be completed in two years under two phases and is expected to cost PKR 4 billion.

In Phase I, the construction work on a monument, a sports complex, and the main alleys will be completed. A lake, food court, several parks and gateways will also be completed.

Reportedly, a comprehensive strategy has been prepared to develop the project, for which a supervisory committee has also been formed. In the meantime, the Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) has also decided on employing consultants and contracting firms for the project.

The delivery deadline for the Bab-e-Pakistan Project Phase I is January 2019.

وزیر ریلویز خواجہ سعد رفیق نے کہا ہے کہ اٹھائیس دسمبر بروز جمعرات محب وطن پاکستانیوں اور زندہ دلان لاہور کو باب پاکستان کی تعمیر نو کا تحفہ ملے گا، وہ وزیراعلٰیٰ پنجاب شہباز شریف کے ساتھ ساڑھے چار ارب روپے کی لاگت سے 117 ایکڑ پر مشتمل باب پاکستان کی تعمیر نو کے منصوبے کا سنگ بنیاد رکھیں گے اور اس عظیم الشان منصوبے کو محض دو برس کے مختصر عرصے میں مکمل کر لیا جائے گا جس کا طویل عرصے سے انتظار کیا جا رہا ہے، یہ منصوبہ قیام پاکستان کے حوالے سے لاہور کی تاریخی اہمیت کو اجاگر کرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ شہر کے حسن کو چار چاند لگا دے گا۔ وزیر ریلوے خواجہ سعد رفیق نے رکن پنجاب اسمبلی یٰسین سوہل کی قیادت میں مسلم لیگ نون کے کارکنوں سے بات چیت کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ جہاں باب پاکستان پراجیکٹ سے کوٹ لکھپت، مکہ کالونی، ایل ڈی اے فلیٹس، بھٹہ چوک، چونگی امرسدھو، والٹن اور دیگر علاقوں کے لاکھوں مکینوں کو تفریح اور کھیل کے مواقعے فراہم کرے گا وہاں تاریخ کا وہ قرض بھی ادا ہو گا جس کا خواب غلام حیدر وائیں مرحوم کے دور سے دیکھا جا رہا ہے۔ یہاں لڑکوں اور لڑکیوں کے دو سکول بھی تعمیر کئے گئے ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ والٹن میں یہی وہ جگہ ہے جہاں ہندوستان سے آنے والے مسلمانوں کے قافلوں نے قیام کیا تھا. خواجہ سعد رفیق نے کہا کہ باب پاکستان کے نئے ڈیزائن میں اس امر کو خاص طور پر ملحوظ خاطر رکھا گیا ہے کہ وہاں اب تک ہونے والا تعمیراتی کام کا حصہ ہو تاکہ قوم کے یہاں خرچ ہونے والے ایک ایک روپے کو ضائع ہونے سے بچایا جا سکے۔ باب پاکستان کے مونومنٹ یعنی یادگار بلاک میں مینار، لائبریری، آڈیٹوریم اور آرٹ گیلری شامل ہیں۔ خواجہ سعد رفیق نے بتایا کہ نئے ڈیزائن میں تاریخی اہمیت اور حسن کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے کامن ایریا کے علاوہ علاقے کے نوجوانوں کی ضروریات کے پیش نظر کرکٹ گراونڈ اور سٹیڈیم، فٹ بال اور ہاکی گراونڈ اور سٹیڈیم ، دو ٹینس کورٹ، دو والی بال کورٹس، دو سوئمنگ پولز دو کلومیٹر لمبا جاگنگ ٹریک، ایک بیڈ منٹن کورٹ کے ساتھ ساتھ انڈور جمنازیم اور سپورٹس کمپلکیس بھی شامل کئے گئے ہیں جو بین الاقوامی معیار کے ہوں گے۔ خواجہ سعد رفیق نے مزید بتایا کہ باب پاکستان منصوبے میں فوڈ کورٹ، برڈ ہاوس، سووینئر شاپاس، بوٹنگ اور واٹر سکوٹرز کے ساتھ جھیل اور متعدد دیگر سہولتیں شامل ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ باب پاکستان کی حقیقی اہمیت ہجرت کرنے والے ہمارے بزرگوں کے حوالے سے ہے لہذا ہجرت کی یادگار کے طور پر ٹرین کی دو بوگیاں، دو بیل گاڑیاں، چوبیس ٹینٹ سٹرکچرز بھی منصوبے کا حصہ ہیں۔ انہوں نے بتایا کہ والٹن میں یوتھ ہاسٹل 1934 میں قائم ہوا اور حضرت قائداعظم علیہ رحمہ نے 1947 میں اس کا وزٹ بھی کیا، اس ہاسٹل کی بھی تعمیر نو اور تزئین و آرائش کی جا رہی ہے تاکہ ملک بھر سے نوجوان باب پاکستان کا دورہ کرتے ہوئے وہاں قیام کر سکیں اور اپنی تاریخ کو یاد رکھ سکیں۔ اس موقعے پر رکن پنجاب اسمبلی یسیں سوہل نے باب پاکستان کی تعمیرنو کے سلسلے میں وفاقی وزیر ریلویز خواجہ سعد رفیق کی بطور وائس چئیرمین کمیٹی کوششوں کو سراہا اور کہا کہ وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب شہباز شریف اور وزیر ریلویز خواجہ سعد رفیق کی طرف سے ان کے علاقے میں یہ تاریخی تحفہ ہو گا اور اپنے وطن سے محبت کرنے والے لاکھوں پاکستانی باب پاکستان کی تعمیر کے بعد اس مقام پر آ کے اپنی محبت اور وفا کی تجدید کر سکیں گے۔

CM Shehbaz Sharif lays foundation stone for Bab-e-Pakistan in Lahore

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has laid the foundation stone for the project of Bab-e-Pakistan, almost 33 years after the national monument was originally envisioned at the site of one of the biggest Muslim refugee camps established after Partition in 1947.

This project at Walton area of Lahore Cantonment has been divided into two phases and is expected to be completed by 2020.

Main monument of Bab-e-Pakistan is going to be 167 ft high comprising of auditorium, library, museum & display galleries. Bab-e-Pakistan shall have food courts, souvenir shops, bird aviary, butterfly garden, amphitheater and much more. It will have sports complex with indoor & outdoor facilities including swimming pool, gymnasium, squash court, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, tennis, & volleyball.


Bab-e-Pakistan Monument

The site for the Project selected at Walton Road, Lahore was the location of the first and largest refugee camp set up on August 14, 1947. The selected site measures around 117 acres.

The main objective of the Monument is to commemorate mass migration of Muslims of India to newly created nation-state, struggle for freedom and to pay tribute to the millions of people who sacrificed everything they owned for the noble cause of Pakistan. The Government of Pakistan through Bab-e-Pakistan Trust has embarked upon a national level project for construction of a memorial as a tribute to the refugees who scarified everything for their freedom and for the creation of Pakistan.

In 2015, after deliberations by a committee constituted by the Chief Minister Punjab and headed by Momin Agha, Secretary Information and Culture Department, the design was modified to make it simple, sustainable and economically viable.

To pay tribute to the freedom movement torchbearers, Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shehbaz Sharif has laid the foundation stone of Bab-e-Pakistan today.

Main monument of Bab-e-Pakistan is going to be 167 ft high comprising of auditorium, library, museum & display galleries at the cost of Rs. 4 Billion.

Looks like they have made the main monument bit smaller from the original. But I guess quality of design is more important than the height.

Also the whole thing looks so unorganized, it like to much going on! Looks more like a fair or exhibition ground and not a national monument.
