When will the project, with the new rowing stadium in the other lake "Holing sø", begin. Will there be build residential around Holing sø as well as Fuglsang Sø?
I heard some time ago that they already had begun, but it dosn't look like much has been made when you look out there. Actually I haven't heard much lately, but I hope they'll begin (for real) soon.
I think they want to build residential there too, and there have also been some talk about a new golfcourse. I found this old map on the Ringkøbing Amt website, it is from before Fuglsang Sø were made, cause it doesn't look like on this map. I think all the pink areas are new residential areas, a few of them have already been built now. (Fuglsang Sø is the lower one, Holing Sø the long one):

I found the map in this pdf file, there is also more information (not sure how up to date it is though).

EDIT: After reading some plans, it looks like they wont start with Holing Sø before 2008. The size will be ~48 ha, which is pretty much the double of Fuglsang Sø.

Close to the Herning Center we have the construction site of Bauhaus. It will be just next to the new motorway, and it be 15.000 m2. Construction was started just 3-4 weeks ago, so it's going quite fast. I think they plan to open just about the same time as the Herning Center Expansion and the new motorway (start of October).

After a long and silent summer, there's finally some news about the DGI project. A "VVM undersøgelse" has been made, and a plan from the county (Ringkøbing Amt) will be in hearing for the next 2 months or so. After that a local plan will have to go through the same process. The mayor, Lars Krarup, says today to the local paper that they might start building around christmas if things go as planned. The 72 page long VVM undersøgelse (english anyone?:D) can be found here, should anyone want to see it. It includes some renderings: Right here

Some other small news: The private hospital here wants to build a new home for themselves (Privathospitalet Dalgas). It'll be located in Birk Centerpark, just next to the new Steven Holl designed Art Museum. They expect it to be ready in late 2007, the same time as the new museum. It'll just be a 1400 m2 white two storey building, so nothing major. No renderings yet..

Just a small update on whats going on here atm:

Herningcentret opened their new expansion last weekend, and now it has 60 stores. I have visited it, and the new part is okay, but nothing more. The old part of the shopping center is not very nice, but they have plans about a big renovation wihtin the next 5 years.

Today the new roads around Herning was opened. That includes 15 kms of motorway and 10 kms of "motortraffic way" (90 km/h speed limet). The work continues on the remaining part of the motorway to Vejle, and the last part will open in 2012.

Otherwise not much news from here. The localplan hearing for the DGI project (with the 23-24 storey highrise) will end on october 25th, it'll be exhiting to see how that turns out.

Wee, yet another highrise proposal for Herning, this time "only" 12 floors though. Haven't seen any renderings yet, but I can see from a meeting at the city hall that they will make a localplan, because someone want to build a 3 and a 12 storey building. The 12 storey building are to supposed to be just behind the black office building on the above rendering, and just to the right of it on this photo (on the corner across the street):

Funny thing is that I have really though that a tower would be great at this location. Now my dream might come though. :)

The buildings that will have to go are all smaller houses (this, this, this and this.)
-----------------------------
Was also a a public meeting about the DGI project tonight, the plans for the 23/24 storey tower still stands, and the localplan will end this wednesday. Though there has been more protests from neighbors about the tower lately, it still sounds like the politicians wants the tower. Let's hope the NIMBYs wont win this round!

Good news indeed :)
12 floors isn't much, but it will still make an impact on the Herning skyline, and hopefully more will follow.
And good that the DGI-byen will soon be decided (fingers crossed). I'm also quite optimistic that it'll go through, and the NIMBY's will be ignored.

Yep good news. I just found out the developer will be local KPC, and they have hired Henning Larsens Tegnestue to design the project. It will consist of a 3 storey base with offices and a 9 storey residential building on top of it, so 12 floors in all. Hopefully they'll come up with something cool. :)

The localplan will "go public" around mid november, and for the following 8 weeks. KPC expects complains about it (like always), but they hope they can start building late next summer. Construction will take around a year.

Nice with more highrises in Herning, its the perfect town for it.
But how is it going with the DGi project??? I have heart there are many complaints about the highrise, from the neighbours.
Buy the way, passed through Herning two weeks ago on the new motorway, it give a nice view over the town*S*

Only the politicians know how it's going with the DGI project now. The hearing period for the localplan ended last wednesday, so now it's up to them to decide. I hope for a final decision soon.

And yes, the motorways gives some new views of Herning, that I have never seen before. :)

I just made a "rendering" from an old photo of mine from a chuch tower. It shows central Herning, with the 2 new highrises. The heights shown are not correct, just my quick guesses. Also no rendering for the middle tower left (the KPC/Herning Larsen one):

Codanhus could use a facade renovation if you ask me. There was talk about it some 3-4 years ago, but haven't heard anything about it since. I just digged out an old drawing of how it should have looked. I hope they still have some plans for this, since the white facade is getting quite dirty and ugly:

I dropped by the "byplanafdelingen" (nice English:D) today to see the model of the proposed new highrise. The model ain't that detailed, but you get a good idea of the project anyway. The tower part will be quite small with just 2 apartments pr floor, 18 in all (the 3 lower floors are offices). I took a few photos:

The 8 weeks long localplan period for the project started this wednesday, and will end on january 17th. The localplan cen be read HERE should anyone be interested. :)

Today a new large project was announced. It is a completely new part of Herning, which will have some 800 homes. It'll be build in the next 10-15 years. The architect for the whole project is Henning Larsens Tegnestue.

A bit more about the project on my website (only in Danish): 800 nye boliger i Engholm Søpark

I think they are supposed to make a final decision on dec 19th, when the city council have their last meeting before the municipality reform. But there seems to be some unfinished issues, specially with the traffic and parking situation. Will sure be exciting to see what they end up with.

A little construction update from Fuglsang Sø. The fist people have now moved in to the first project, and 2 others are on their way. It is still very much one big construction site out there, and it probably will be for some years. The area where these first buildings are, will most likely look a lot better in the spring, when grass and tress are added, and the waterfront made.

Here we go:

First 2 shots of the waterfront, which are currently being build:

Here we have the 5 "Twinhouses" with 10 units. These go for 4 - 4.5 million Danish kroner each. Will be ready around spring/summer:

Next we have the 5 three storey buildings. They are now completed and people have moved in, though there are still some work to do (problems with the facade for example)

And the last project UC right now is "Søfronten". A 5 storey building with 64 units. Will be ready around December 2007:

Yes the plan is also to make it appear "modern". It will be quite large, only a little part is UC now. I think it will be a really nice area when everything is build up, in some years.

Here's a plan I made, which show the current progress, the red buildings are the projects we have now, all the gray ones will follow:
