Action should be taken against every hawker violating the norms irrespective of whether he is Bengali or not
There is a simple solution. Mark illegal hawking zones. Put warning that these are forcibly acquired illegal activity. Then Just start fining (heavily) from people who buy from illegal hawkers. Let the hawkers be. Just forcibly close their revenue stream.

No worries. PaddoBangla is covering that angle as expected.
But we have seen in news channels that the people that the PaddoBanglas hate have also been impacted in the Esplanade area
That's what I am saying - why leave them any ground? Some repeated light on industrial investments Bengal received in the last few years (including that of Britannia), and all the Malviyas would have very little scope to tweet jacksh!t giving everyone vietnam flashbacks of Singur again. Similarly one or two raids at those so-called controversial spots in the city, and you give more reasons for Shubhendus and (Re)Public toilets to have their mouths shut. You give them no ground, you give them no space - that's how social media and the larger media works today!

Look how our miserable Rail Reel Minister - Just within a day or two of the Kanchenjungha train accident, he was out there tweeting feats of Railways upon the Chenab Rail Bridge. Ironically the trial run of that train happened near a place (Reasi) which just a week ago had seen a ghastly and cowardly terror attack, kiling 9 innocent civilians and injuring many others aboard that ill-fated bus. Noone knows of the outcomes of intelligence enquiries of this terror attack, and everyone seems to have forgotten - out of sight, out of mind! You have a ghastly terror attack, and a week later a horrible train crash - and look how PR was managed - one tweet of the Chenab bridge, and everyone's gaga about how great Kashmir has become and how great Indian Railways under you-know-who is again. Two birds, one stone!

I am talking PR Management! Let alone raids at those aforementioned places in the city - State Admin could have gone nuts with tweets about removing illegal shanties wherever possible, and perhaps some repeated tweets of industrial investments in Bengal (even smaller ones), and you're somewhat equipped to take on any forms of the great Pawddo...!

Off Topic:

For all the developments that we see occurring everyday around us - be it political or otherwise, I guess a lot depends on the kind of media we have been consuming for longest periods of time we can remember - what has been perpetually fed to us, and more importantly how it has been fed to us. For example all of us are more or less quite familiar about the cacophony Bengali or Bengal's media represents... be it what sides they take (or may be affiliated to) or what generates more TRP for them and what more content can be mass-produced so that it generates more gossip and squabble, without least bit bothering what image and long-term impact it sheds on our state, our society and on our culture.

Forget TV Channels, look at newspapers today - very little worthwhile content, mostly filling up pages to satiate their political bosses/financiers (with full responsibility and ownership they often declare they obviously have a profitable business to run, but why take up journalism then in the first place? Could have sold mud for all we know if money-making was your ultimate goal!). Most newspapers/channels become either mouthpieces officially for some particular party/group, others pretend to be just - but everyone knows they're a load of crow-poop. Lesser said about several (not all of them) YouTube channels posing as News Agencies or Self-Proclaimed Experts, the better - there's literally noone governing them and their credibility!

But amidst the debris of falling journalism standards that put us at the bottom of world rankings (be it in Press Freedom or in Corruption Indices), there do exist a few small channels out there - run by a handful of few people here and there, who surprisingly still seem true to their profession they had started out with. Although they do run their channels on YouTube (and that credibility question often arises unfortunately), but one can't help but notice their uniqueness and honesty that reflect out of each of their reportings or each of their pieces. Probably the ones left who perhaps have somehow struggled to keep the hopes of honest journalism alive in the country. Proud to have one of those based out of the city:

I guess @Suncity had shared a piece from this channel about the city's resilience few days back.

Back to square one then.
Political parties over the decades have created a Frankenstein in the form of Jobordokholkaris.
The root cause is NOT addressed - lack of large scale and organized sector industries and thus no large scale organized sector job creation.
Economy of the state is now synonymous with one dala or two dalas on footpath.
The whole focus of the administration will now be consumed by these committees and videography etc.
The elephant in the room is that there is a massive failure of creating proper economic and income growth supported by planned organized sector industrialization, good infrastructure (which create jobs) and higher agricultural productivity.
Plus the administration needs to ask itself as to why people are breaking laws with so much immunity - crumbling buildings, commercial centres which are fire hazards all over.

Hawker eviction suspended for now. Hawkers have been given a timeframe of one month to relocate. Else they will be for fully evicted.

Now in this one month all the roads that have been cleared will again become unclear.
Bolechilam. It's all for show. She is a master politician. This is what she does. Promises and then reneges.

If people follow political tweets, then they have to risk listening to political logic.
Would you consider Mr Malaware an absolute idiot as well? Although one can think that his tweets are more of criminal in nature spreading hatred and sowing seeds of division.
Every single person on twitter doing political rants day and night including Malaware (he is actually a criminal and an instigator) are idiots. What is surprising is when people who are supposed to have higher education and credibility make such bullshit posts. The reason this education was given to them was to question questionable decisions not to boot lick politicians who don't have their best interests in mind.

He is part of a political party and will promote whatever his party's political line is. What has higher education got to do with that? If he was not affiliated to a party and not promoting a party's message then I guess you could weigh in on the comments from an individual perspective.

It is gorom theke norom as per one TV channel.
In general, a vast section of citizens will not support such evictions given that it is a matter of livelihood.

Conspiracy theorists will say that this was probably all scripted and the administration had probably planned ahead of time which areas to target in three four days and then pause the drive under compassionate grounds.

Basically show the people that the administration can act like the "boss" if needed and also be "compassionate".

Let's see if the complete lawlessness (One union leader is claiming 100s of crores of extortion money by police) surrounding illegal land and footpath capture by people, gets some sort of checks and balances.

The only scene that the media missed is the LoP and the media declared Bhagoban standing in front of bulldozers. "Compassion" took away that opportunity to pose in front of cameras.

The fact that these encroachments kills legit businesses next to footpaths these people probably don't care about.
