worst part of London??
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What is the worst part of London: North, East, West, South??
I have to admit i am not overly familiar with it BUT from my general idea of the region (based largely on what some may term superficial sources like media and word of mouth) i would have to say East London. I mean first of the amount of times i have heard phrase like "The mean streets of East London" or the "The East London slums" is significant. Plus i grew up fearing places like Hackney, Dalston, (which are in the area nicknamed 'Murder mile) and Plaistow i think it is among others. To add to that 3 Places in east london (Hackney, Tower Hamlets & Newham) were in the Top 10 worst places to live in Britain last year, 2 of which were actually the 2 worst. http://www.channel4.com/4homes/ontv/...006/worst.html . Only last night i was watching a segment on London tonight saying how bad Tower Hamlets was. Plus i have to say any place with has such a strong identity which East Londoners certainly do possess must be compensating for something!
Generally i feel the perception of North London, where i grew up is a place with a numer of nice trendy areas and a number of leafy suburbs- which i have to say it largely is (espcially areas like Muswell Hill & Barnet where i lived). However it did, like every part of London did have its bad/ghetto-ish parts. There was a whole corridor in Eastern haringey & Eastern enfield(namely areas like Tottenham, Bruve Grove, Edmonton and maybe evn Wood Green) which were quite rough. My stepdad is a bobbie in Enfield and he often says how bad edmonton Green is.
anyway what are your opinions are the worst part of london to live in & even where is the best part?????
