It seems like there is a shortage of dictionaries in Ethiopia. Maybe a good business to get into but then the clientele might be too limited.

I wouldn't call staring at a concrete block right out my window premium living - more like a prison if you ask me.

Part of doing the rendering is to help you simulate and figure out things. If they would pay attention it is literally telling them the problem area. High rises separated by two lane streets and the lack of direct natural light - WTF is wrong with our architects.

It would have been better if they took out the single houses and spread out the high rises with a wide courtyard in the middle. Greed strikes again. Where are the green legacy ቱልቱላዎች?

I see a lot of misuse of some common architectural words related with models. So I just want to elaborate

1)perspective -Perspective is the representation for depicting three-dimensional volumes and spatial relationships in two dimensions, as if from the view-point of an observer . Type of perspective are aerial perspective, frontal perspective (or 1-point perspective), angular perspective (or 2-points perspective)


2) render -the process of creating two-dimensional and three-dimensional images of a proposed architectural design.

3) model-An architectural model is a representation of buildings or structures in a three dimensional angle to help visualize design concept. It can be physical model or digital model.

4) animation -Animation involves a series of sequential images, or frames, that are played in rapid succession to create the illusion of motion.

5)Moodboard- moodboard is a representation, physical or computer-generated, of a pallet of materials that will be used, or that are intended to be used, in a project.

6. BIM-Building information modelling-it is a digital model PLUS it contains knowledge resource or information about the model.

Mostly this words are interchangeably used but below is the formal use of this words.

Not sure I get you bro on the word "render".

Maybe you guys out there apply it differently. I partially agree that render/ing is the finished output or the process but it can be 2D or 3D, perspective or isometric, still or animated (a series of rendered still images) ...

Even our old school audio engineer says I am rendering (instead of saying exporting as he thinks he is composing and not slapping things together). I hear this at work being used interchangeably by the media team also and it is fine. No one gets confused about it and we produce reports with architectural drawings (3D renderings) for clients. For us it means a tool was used to produce a final visual or audio representation (ie a computer) and nothing else.

 

I sometimes look at Addis real estate websites to see if they're advertising a new development, came across this one.

I'm not disputing that they are building the Oromia Presidential Palace at the location. I stayed at a hotel right behind that location a few years back and it was some sort of Oromo government building protected by soldiers. It might as well have been a Presidential Palace back then.
